| Amber | damp cloth and dry or warm water-detergent can also be used | Amber is an organic gem, a fossilized, hardened form of resin from ancient pine trees. |
| Amethyst | warm water-detergent, soft brush | Amethyst is sometimes heat treated to bring out its purple color. Can possibly crack or fade in too high of temperatures. |
| Aquamarine | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Aquamarine (blue-beryl) can be heat treated to bring out its blue color. Too high heat can cause fading of this stone. |
| Diamond | ammonia based cleaner, warm water (grease cutting) detergent-soft brush | Diamonds are restored to brilliamce when oils or grease are removed from their surface. Heat is not a problem. |
| Emerald | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Emeralds are treated with an oil to help with breakage and color. Ultra Sonic and Steaming Cleaners are to be completely avoided. |
| Garnet | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Garnets are heat sensitive but for the most part are tough stones. |
| Jade | warm water-detergent and soft brush, dry-rub briskly | Jade is a tough surface. May need professional repolishing from time to time. |
| Opal | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Opal is very sensitive to pressure and extreme temperature changes. Very soft and fragile and can have surface cracks if exposed to harsh elements. |
| Pearl | wipe with damp soft cloth, stains should be removed with mild soapy solution and a damp cloth (do not dip pearl in solution) dry thoroughly. Blow out drilled holes carefully; moisture captured there causes disoloring | very special care is required |
| Peridot | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Peridot is a softer gem, acids and heat can cause dammage. Easily scratches avoid wearing with other jewelry. |
| Ruby | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Rubies are sometimes oiled and high heat can remove this oil and cause dammage. |
| Sapphire | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Sapphires can be oiled like the Ruby, which enhances it's color. Inclusions can weaken this stone and harsh chemicals are to be avoided. |
| Tanzanite | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Tanzanite is fragile and soft. It is heat treated to bring out the blue and can be sensitive to heat and vibrations. |
| Turquoise | warm water-detergent and soft brush, wipe dry immediately | Turquoise is porous, harsh detergents and cleaning solutions can cause this stone to change color completely. |
| Topaz | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Topaz is very senstive to vibration and heat. Ultra Sonic and Steam Cleaners must be avoided. |
| Tourmaline | warm water-detergent and soft brush | Tourmaline is a fairly hard gem. Due to the color changes in the stone itself these areas tend to be weaker. Can be sensitive to heat and vibrations. |
